11 July 2020 Miranda Park to Algies via Silverdale

It turned out to be a good decision to overnight at Miranda the previous night as we found that the beginning of todays drive was quite challenging with more winding small roads to navigate as we went up the coast. It was worth the detour though as we arrived at sunny Kawakawa Bay where we had views to Waiheke Island and were greeted by friendly locals (even shouting ‘hello’ from a car as we walked by).

We made last minute plans to catch up for lunch with some friends at Silverdale before we arrived at Algies Bay and parked up by the beach. Low tide in the afternoon allowed us to go exploring on the beach.

Dinner with Conway and Jude finished the night off nicely, although Mal may still have trauma from expecting curry takeaway for dinner, only to find out that the restaurant had chosen to close on a Saturday night! Fortunately Jude did some of her kitchen magic and made us pizzas instead which went down very well. It was pitch black as we made our way down the hill to our campsite and crawled into bed..

[mal] trauma now diminished with the promise of movie and curry at earliest convenience (tuesday) – we shall see!
