Enjoyed morning coffee with an old PDNZ colleague of Tiinas before we set off to our next location of Wairoa. It was a scenic and hilly journey on winding roads.
Wairoa is a small town with a population of about 4500 people and has a feel of a small town too. It used to have an industry in Flax and Wool but now forestry and farming are the main sources of incom. We arrived at 3pm hoping to find a late lunch and after walking up and down the main street seeking food, a chinese takeaway was our only decent looking choice. (Bonus – No food poisoning!)
Unfortunately the weather declined on arrival in Wairoa ending up in a very stormy night spent in a suspect location – a carpark in the middle of town.
