We couldn’t resist the cafe in Masterton we discovered yesterday so we enjoyed late breakfast there after escaping the storm in Castlepoint.
Our next stop was Pukaha Mt Bruce, National wildlife centre. A really worthwhile place to visit, they’ve done a great job in creating authentic bush, close-up access to various birds and native NZ beasts.

Onward to Dannevirke where we parked up at Holiday Park.
Our neighbour was ex-cabin crew for one of the Saudi airlines, He told us how he used to come to this park 70 years ago!

It’s a nice little campground with plenty of walks, even a small deer farm. As it’s located in a gully, we were totally sheltered from the blustery weather which was passing through
